"This padel tournament is a form of our concrete support for the development of sport tourism in Badung," said Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa in his statement in Mangupura, Monday.
In the tournament entitled Padel Island Tournament Series By Nak Badung, Regent Adi Arnawa handed over funds amounting to IDR 30 million to support the event.
According to him, the trending sport of padel has great potential to attract new tourist segments to Badung.
"Apart from being a training platform to attract talented athletes, events like this have a direct impact on the recovery and economic improvement of the surrounding community," he said.
He said that his party hopes that the Padel Island Tournament Series can be transformed into an annual sports agenda on an international scale.
If this can be realized, Badung will not only be known for its natural beauty, but also as a major destination for world sports fans.
Regent Adi Arnawa added that his party also appreciates the athletes and winners who have shown high sportsmanship during the competition.
"Hopefully from this event, outstanding padel athletes will be born who are able to take the name of Badung Regency to a higher level," he concluded.
