Benoa Harbor Will Become a Marina, Fishing Boats Relocated to Accommodate 188 Yachts

Benoa Harbor in Denpasar, Bali, is being prepared to become a marina area that can accommodate up to 188 yachts. This development is being carried out in the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub area and is expected to attract more foreign tourists who have high purchasing power.

The Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), said the first step taken was to relocate and organize fishing vessels currently in the Benoa Harbor area to Pengambengan Nusantara Fisheries Harbor (PPN), Jembrana.

"One of the things that must be done is the relocation and arrangement of fishing vessels which are currently in the area over there. Later they will be directed to Pengambengan Port which is part of the duties of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP)," he said, Tuesday (21/7/2026).

After arranging the ships, the Benoa Harbor area can be focused on developing a marina which will be able to accommodate up to 188 yachts of various scales. In addition, mooring facilities will be developed for large cruise ships up to five ships.

"It has the potential to accommodate up to 188 yachts of various scales, including super and mega yachts, sizes and classifications. Likewise, there will also be developments for mooring large cruise ships, up to five ships," he said.

AHY hopes that this development will be able to attract more tourists from various countries, especially foreign tourists with high spending abilities or high spending tourism. Therefore, the marina area will be equipped with various facilities that can provide comfort for tourists while in Bali.

"We will also develop entertainment facilities, shopping malls, shopping centers, open parks, green open spaces, and of course ones that are safe and comfortable for anyone who visits," he explained.

AHY said that the development of the Benoa Harbor area was carried out taking into account the trend of increasing demand for yachts globally. Based on studies, global demand for yachts has increased by around 7.5 percent at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from year to year.

According to him, tourists using yachts can stay in a destination for quite a long time, which has the potential to have a large economic impact.

"Based on studies, there has been an increase of around 7.5% CAGR from year to year in global yacht demand. And if we can attract some of it here, why not?" he added.
