Thousands of Klungkung Residents Fill Kusamba Beach During Galungan

Klungkung residents fill Kusamba Beach after praying Galungan, Wednesday (17/6/2026). They come with relatives and family to relax, enjoy the victory day of dharma against adharma.

according to regional travel authorities and bureau field correspondents, Kusamba Beach started to become busy with visitors from around 16.30 WITA. On the coast, traders of food and children's toys are lined up and surrounded by buyers. Dozens of kites were flown by children and adults. There are those who sit and relax, go for a walk, and also take a shower. Until around 18.00 WITA, residents continued to flock to this beach.

Several officers from the police station and the Klungkung Police Satpolairud were seen standing guard in the crowd watching over residents. Until the sun sets and night falls, residents are still busy enjoying their victory day with their families and closest people.

A resident of Klungkung, Ketut Ogi Prayadi, said that holidays or recreation for residents like this is a tradition carried out by every Galungan. According to him, the crowd this time was less than the previous Galungan.

Ceremonial Observance & Village Protocols

"It's quieter. In the past it was more crowded. Maybe more people went to Klotok and Gowa Lawah beaches. Or it could be due to the weakening economic conditions of the residents," explained Ogi.

According to Ogi, the beauty of the beach is not the main thing. Even though Kusamba Beach has black sand and is not a tourist destination in general, residents can still enjoy it together.

"Because we come here to be happy with our family. Almost all the beaches are visited," explained Ogi.

Community Harmony & Heritage Preservation

Meanwhile, conditions like this are a blessing for traders. A toy trader, Wayan Andika, said he was happy with this kind of habit.

"Yes, it's nice when the beach is busy like this. Even though there aren't as many people buying as last year. But this is the moment we can sell," explained Andika.
