Chinese Tourist Bitten by Dog Suspected of Rabies in Bangli

A tourist from China named Li Qiujun, was bitten by a dog on Jalan Brigjen Ngurah Rai Number 10, Kawan Village, Bangli District, Bangli. It is suspected that the dog that bit the 30-year-old woman was infected with rabies.

"There was a security disturbance, a resident and a foreign tourist from China were bitten by a dog. This incident occurred on Monday (13/7/2026)," said the Head of the Bangli Police Public Relations Section (Kasi), Iptu I Gede Gumiliarta according to regional travel authorities and bureau field correspondents, Tuesday (14/7/2026).

Gumiliarta said that shortly before the incident, Li Qiujin was shopping at the supermarket in front of Bangli Regional Hospital. After shopping, he wanted to return to Ubud, Gianyar, with his tour guide.

Just coming out of the supermarket at around 16.00 WITA, the woman was bitten by a white dog. As a result, Li Qiujin suffered a bite wound on her right thigh. "The victim was shopping at the supermarket in front of the Bangli Regional Hospital. Then he was bitten by the dog in question," said Gumiliarta.

According to Gumiarta, before biting Li Qiujin, the dog attacked a resident in Kawan Village, Bangli District, named Ni Ketut Suciasih. Suciasih was bitten by a dog near her house, not far from Bangli Prison.

"The victim was bitten by a dog around his house on the north side of the Bangli prison," he said.

Public Relations of Bangli Hospital Sang Kompyang Arie Sukma Wijaya explained that Li Qiujin had been treated during treatment, not long after being bitten by a dog. The woman sought treatment three hours after being bitten by a dog.

"The patient was bitten by a dog on the right thigh, then the wound was treated or a pressure splint was carried out," said Sang Kompyang.

He revealed that Li Qiujin only sought treatment as first aid. This is because the anti-rabies vaccine (VAR) is only available in clinics and health centers.

"Patients are advised to seek VAR at a clinic or health center. The patient was treated at 19.07 WITA and discharged at 19.30 WITA," he said.
