Bangli, Bali (National Archipelagic Wire) - Commission VII DPR RI has asked that the concept of storytelling or conveying messages through stories and the development of the creative economy be strengthened as a strategy to increase the competitiveness of tourist villages in Indonesia.

Penglipuran Tourism Village in Bangli Regency, Bali, is considered to have great potential to strengthen tourism experiences based on culture and local wisdom.

Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI Hj. Chusnunia Chalim during a working visit to Penglipuran Village, Bangli Regency, Bali, Thursday (9/7), said that it is not enough for tourist villages to just rely on natural and cultural beauty, but must also be able to provide memorable experiences for tourists.

According to him, Penglipuran has a strong attraction through its beautiful environment, maintained culture and community-based governance.

"In the future, destination development needs to be balanced with innovation to be able to anticipate the increase in the number of tourists," he said.

Chusnunia also asked the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Creative Economy, and related ministries to continue to strengthen assistance to tourist villages, both in developing the creative economy, promotion, and increasing human resource capacity.

He hopes that this synergy will be able to give birth to more competitive tourist villages, provide quality tourism experiences, while strengthening Indonesia's position as a culture-based tourism destination.

Member of Commission VII DPR RI Samuel J.D. Wattimena said that promotion of Penglipuran Tourism Village could still be strengthened by providing more complete information for tourists, such as flyers containing history, traditions and activities that can be done while in the village.

He also proposed developing more distinctive creative economy products so that they are not just souvenirs bearing the name Penglipuran, but have stories and cultural identity that are their own attraction.

According to Samuel, the concept of storytelling is a strength that must be developed because tourists today are not only looking for destinations, but also experiences and stories that can be shared with others.
