Beritabali reports that a task force from the Badung Regency Environment and Sanitation Agency (DLHK) has uncovered a discharge pipe at Finns Beach Club, which discharges wastewater into a storm drain that terminates at the Berawa Beach area in Tibubeneng Village, North Kuta.

This discovery was made during a field inspection by the Badung Regency DLHK at Finns Beach Club conducted on Saturday, 01 August 2026. During the inspection, officers observed wastewater flowing toward the beach.

I Kadek Edi Putrana, Head of the Communication Division of the Badung Regency Secretariat, explained that the North Kuta District Law Enforcement (Gakkum) team—alongside Tibubeneng Village officials, the Head of the Banjar Berawa neighborhood, and the North Kuta Police Precinct—jointly traced the drainage channels along Jalan Pantai Berawa. As a result of the field inspection, several pipes leading into the storm drain were found, together with one pipe connected to the Wastewater Treatment Plant belonging to Finns Beach Club,” explained I Kadek Edi Putrana.

Coordinating with Finns Beach Club Management, enforcement officers confirmed their findings of illegal piping configurations resulting in wastewater discharge. In mitigation, Finns Management said the water flowing into the drainage channel was, in fact, treated effluent from their wastewater treatment system.

Flagrant and Fragrant Disregard for Bali’s Environment

However, based on the Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) and Technical Approval for Wastewater Discharge (Pertek PBMAL) documents on file and submitted by Finns, the treated water was intended to be used for watering plants and discharged into infiltration wells, rather than being routed to the storm drain. As an initial remedial step, officials permanently sealed the business’s waste discharge pipe. This action was taken because the wastewater discharge was deemed non-compliant with the company’s environmental permit.

”We have permanently sealed the discharge pipe using cement. We have confirmed that the pipe belongs to Finns Beach Club, and periodic monitoring will continue in the future,” stated Made Rai Warastuthi, Head of the Badung Environment and Sanitation Agency (DLHK), on Sunday. 02 August 2026.

The Badung DLHK is now preparing administrative sanctions against Finns, the business operator found in violation of environmental pollution regulations.

Initial enforcement begins with the issuance of a written warning letter. The warning letter provides for a 14-day compliance period. During this time, a team will conduct direct monitoring to ensure improvements in the Company’s wastewater management.

”We have issued a written warning with a 14-day timeframe while our team conducts direct field monitoring. If there is no change, government enforcement measures—extending up to six months—will apply before a review determines whether to take stricter actions, such as suspending the company’s operating permits leading to a possible cessation of operations,” stated Warastuthi.
