Surabaya to Tengger Highlands Ascent
Arrive in Surabaya (SUB) or depart Bali on an early morning flight. Meet your private driver and ascend into the cool pine forests of the Tengger highlands.
Check into your mountain resort perched directly above the volcanic plain. Rest and acclimatize to the 2,200m altitude.
Warm up with a bowl of spicy Javanese Rawon soup before an early night prior to the 03:00 dawn call.
Mount Bromo 4WD Sunrise & Caldera Lip Trek
King Kong Hill Dawn & Bromo Crater Rim Trek
Depart at 03:30 in a 4WD Toyota Land Cruiser up to King Kong Hill. Watch the golden dawn break over Mount Bromo, Mount Batok, and the distant smoking peak of Semeru. Descend to the Sea of Sand and hike across volcanic ash to ascend the 250 concrete steps to Bromo’s roaring crater rim.
Return to Plataran Bromo for a warm breakfast spread overlooking the mountain ridges. Pack luggage, freshen up, and prepare for the overland descent.
Enjoy a scenic private drive down the Tengger mountain foothills toward Surabaya Juanda International Airport (SUB) or Gubeng Railway Station for onward travel to Bali or Jakarta.
