Pondok Tanggui Riverbank Usadha Pavilion

Situated midway along the Sekonyer River near the historic rehabilitation station of Pondok Tanggui, this open-sided ironwood pavilion looks out directly across the dark, glassy water towards dense stands of screw pine and riverine swamp forest. Built using traditional joinery without metal nails, the pavilion breathes in harmony with its surroundings, capturing refreshing breezes channelled by the river bends. It serves as an authentic cultural and botanical sanctuary celebrating Kalimantan’s ancestral usada healing arts, passed down through generations of Dayak herbal healers.

The centerpiece ritual, Warm River Stone Bodywork & Cold-Pressed Borneo Coconut Oil Therapy, harnesses the grounding energy of the river. Smooth volcanic stones collected from upstream rapids are gently heated over an aromatic ironwood hearth and placed along the body's spinal alignment to soothe tired muscles and stimulate circulation. Therapists work hand-pressed virgin coconut oil infused with wild turmeric, clove root, and camphor wood into tight muscles using firm, circular palm pressure. As the gentle sounds of water splashing against timber stilts fill the air, guests surrender to a restorative peat-swamp sound bath that leaves them deeply rooted and recharged.
