Porters or porters rushed over when cars carrying foreign tourists arrived at Tulamben Beach, Karangasem, Bali. The car was carrying tourists who were going on a diving tour in Tulamben waters.

The porters approached to bring various diving equipment to the beach, such as oxygen cylinders, clothing, and so on. No one is fighting. Each of them already has a company they are collaborating with.

This summer, tourists are busy visiting Tulamben Beach to enjoy the underwater beauty. The high season is a blessing for fortune seekers in the Tulamben Beach area, including delivery drivers.

"If there are lots of tourists, we get more. If it's quiet, we get money," said one of the porters, Ni Kadek Mustini, when met at Tulamben Beach, Sunday (30/8/2026).

There are four groups of guide at Tulamben Beach. Most of them are women. They work wearing long-sleeved blue shirts that say 'Tulamben porter'.

Mustini said that when there are lots of tourists, porters at Tulamben Beach earn around IDR 105 thousand a day. Income can even reach IDR 225 a day when there are very many tourists.

However, the profits earned by the porters are certainly not encouraging when Tulamben Beach is empty of tourists. Porters can only earn IDR 30 thousand. This is because the wages they get are only IDR 15 thousand for one transport of diving equipment.

Another porter, Ni Nengah Jesani, revealed the various joys and sorrows of being a porter at Tulamben Beach. Of course, what you feel like is when Pantau Tulamben is busy with tourists because you get more income.

The situation reversed when Tulamben Beach was deserted. Jesani and the other porters may not earn an income because the company they collaborate with does not get tourists.

"When we get little income, sometimes we don't even get it, we can only surrender," said Jesani.
