Garuda opens first flight from Bali to Bandung

Denpasar (National Archipelagic Wire) - The management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, welcomed the first flight on the Bandung, West Java route, which is served by the national airline Garuda Indonesia.

What Was Announced

"The first flight on this route marks the re-optimization of Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport for regular flights, which also coincides with the moment leading up to the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia," said Pgs. General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Purna Irawan in Denpasar, Saturday. He explained that flights on the Bali-Bandung-Bali route which started on Friday (14/8) were operated using the Garuda Indonesia airline.

The Garuda Indonesia plane with flight number GA335 first departed from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport at 09.44 WITA carrying 162 passengers yesterday.

This flight then arrived in Bandung at 10.15 WIB, as well as being the first jet flight to arrive at Husein Sastranegara Airport after the optimization of this airport.

Route Connectivity & Airline Partnerships

Purna said that for the opposite route, flights from Bandung to Bali are served via flight GA334 which departs at 11.47 WIT, and arrives at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport at 14.30 WITA carrying 162 passengers.

For Bali airport, this first flight has its own meaning because it takes place ahead of the commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.

"We welcome the arrival of the first flight to and from Bandung. This momentum is even more special because it takes place in the midst of enthusiasm for welcoming the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as being part of efforts to provide wider air connectivity for the community," said Purna Irawan.

Connectivity between Bali and Bandung itself is considered to have great potential, considering that both regions are destinations that have strong tourist attractions and economic activity.

"We hope that this connectivity can make it easier for people who want to travel between Bali and Bandung, as well as encourage more tourists and business people to explore the potential of both regions," he said.

The operation of the Bandung route via Husein Sastranegara Airport also increases the number of domestic route services at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
