Ministry of Tourism encourages yacht tourism in Bali to strengthen Indonesian maritime tourism
Jakarta (National Archipelagic Wire) - The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) is encouraging the development of yacht tourism to strengthen Indonesia's marine tourism ecosystem while increasing the competitiveness of national tourism.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana said that yacht tourism is one of the three main pillars of developing quality marine tourism in Indonesia, along with cruise and diving tourism.
"This event is a showcase that shows the readiness of Indonesia's marine tourism ecosystem. Yacht tourism is part of the three main pillars of developing quality marine tourism, along with cruise and diving tourism," said Widiyanti at the INSA Yacht Festival (IYF) 2026 in Bali, Saturday (8/8).
According to him, Indonesia has great potential to develop yacht tourism because it is the largest archipelagic country in the world and is located in the Coral Triangle area which has rich marine biodiversity.
He said that developing yacht tourism requires cross-sector collaboration involving industry players, investors, communities, government and tourism players.
It is hoped that this collaboration can build an increasingly competitive yacht tourism industry ecosystem while strengthening Indonesia's position as a world-class marine tourism destination.
"We hope that this collaboration can have a wider impact, starting from increasing tourist visits and driving the shipping industry, marinas, shipyards, to MSMEs, as well as opening up more economic opportunities for coastal communities," he said.
On the same occasion, General Chairperson of the DPP Indonesian National Shipowners Association (INSA) Carmelita Hartoto said that the development of marine tourism needs to be optimized through collaboration between central and regional governments, business actors, associations and other stakeholders.
According to Carmelita, the development of marine tourism has strategic value because it can have multiple effects on the shipping industry, marinas, shipyards, MSMEs and communities in coastal areas.
"Through the INSA Yacht Festival, we want to support the development of quality tourism in Indonesia through the various activities we present, as well as becoming a collaboration space for all stakeholders in developing quality marine tourism," said Carmelita.
