Ship Captain Jessica Mila Sanctioned After Violating Ban on Padar Island

The cruise type tourist ship named Maloekoe, which sailed on August 7 2027, violated the sailing ban. On that day, KSOP Labuan Bajo still closed tourist boat cruises to Padar Island and Komodo Island due to bad weather.
KSOP Labuan Bajo punished the skipper with the initials DJ with a temporary ban on sailing. KSOP Labuan Bajo has temporarily suspended the captain's maritime diploma.
"The captain of the Maloekoe ship was removed from the ship and temporarily suspended his maritime certificate," said Head of KSOP Class III Labuan Bajo, Stephanus Risdiyanto, Tuesday (11/8/2026).
He explained that during the period of suspension of his maritime certificate, DJ was prohibited from being the captain of any ship. "Yes (While your maritime certificate is suspended, you are not allowed to be the captain of any ship)," said Stephanus.
It is not yet known how long the ship's captain's maritime certificate will be suspended. Stephanus did not respond to questions regarding this matter.
As previously reported, Jessica Mila, her husband, children and their entourage went on holiday to Padar Island on August 7. The tourist ship's voyage apparently violated the prohibition on sailing in Labuan Bajo. kSOP Class III Labuan Bajo previously closed tourist boat sailings to Padar Island and Komodo Island until August 10 2026 due to bad weather.
Jessica Mila shared her tourist activities on Padar Island via Instagram story. As a result, Jessica Mila and her entourage's holiday to Padar Island amidst the closure of shipping to that destination received the attention of netizens.
Stephanus emphasized that the tourist ship Jessica Mila was traveling on was bound for Padar Island without a sailing approval letter (SPB) from KSOP Labuan Bajo. The tourist ship's SPB on the day of the incident was only for Rinca Island. During the closure period, SPB for tourist boat cruises to Komodo National Park is only provided to Rinca Island.
"The Maloekoe ship used by the artist does not get SPB to Komodo and Padar, but only to Rinca because Rinca is still considered safe," said Stephanus, Monday (10/8/2026).
