Ministry of Tourism helps restore Sade Traditional Village in Lombok after fire

Jakarta (National Archipelagic Wire) - The Ministry of Tourism is ready to assist efforts to restore the Sade Traditional Village in the Rembitan Village area, Pujut District, Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana on Thursday (27/8) visited the Sade Traditional Village and attended a coordination meeting with the local government to discuss the restoration of the traditional village which experienced massive damage due to the fire that occurred on August 22 2026.

"We from the Ministry of Tourism together with the Poltekpar are also helping, we will hold meetings with the regional government about how to restore and rebuild and of course both involve the community," he said in a ministry press statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.

He said that the Ministry of Tourism would support the restoration of the tourism ecosystem in the Sade Traditional Village, including helping to increase capacity and empower the community.

Based on temporary data from the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government and Central Lombok Regency as well as the Lombok Tourism Polytechnic field team as of August 27 2026, the fire in the Sade Traditional Village affected 189 heads of families and 320 tourism actors.

The fire that hit the Sade Traditional Village on August 22 2026 was also recorded as causing damage to 75 traditional houses, 69 art shops, eight alang barns, one monitoring tower, four Berugak Sekenam, six Berugak Sakepat, one Bale Beleq, and several public facilities.

The Minister of Tourism stated the need to prepare a long-term plan involving relevant ministries and institutions, regional governments, partners and indigenous communities in efforts to restore the Sade Traditional Village, including carrying out reconstruction and raising funds.

He also conveyed the need to prepare a master plan for the reconstruction of traditional villages that involves the community so that it is in accordance with the needs of traditional villages.
