Regular readers of Regional Travel Monitors, we know how much we love North Bali, specifically Lovina. This weekend you are going to want to make the journey north, and let us tell you why!
Cultural Background & Living Tradition
LovFest will be returning to Lovina Beach from 24th – 28th July, and the Buleleng Regency Government, along with the local community, are excited to celebrate the big occasion in 2026.
Speaking to reporters this week, the Head of the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar), I Nyoman Wisandika, accompanied by the Head of the Cultural and Tourism Marketing Division, Gede Angga Prasaja, explained that LovFest 2026 carries the theme “Theater of Dolphins.”
This theme was chosen because dolphins remain a key tourism icon of Lovina, widely known internationally. Let’s be honest, the dolphins are the only reason why most tourists have even thought about traveling to North Bali. Here at Regional Travel Monitors, we can think of a thousand reasons to travel to North Bali, but we understand that the dolphins are working overtime attracting people to the area.
This is why events like LovFest happen, to help celebrate all of what North Bali has to offer. This is why the festival will also showcase Lovina’s other natural wonders, including rice paddy fields, panoramic sunrises and sunsets, and the arts and culture of the coastal communities.
Prasaja told reporters, “Lovina isn’t just about beaches and dolphins. There are many other attractions we want to highlight through this festival, such as rice paddies, sunrises, sunsets, and the richness of local culture.”
Ceremonial Observance & Village Protocols
In 2026, the event really is bigger and better than ever. Organisers have decided to extend the festival’s duration to four days of programming as one strategy to increase tourist stays. This year’s event also involves more tourism stakeholders, creative communities, arts groups, and local communities than in previous years.
What can festival attendees expect? Here’s a quick rundown for you: LovFest 2026 is divided into two activity zones, each targeting different audiences. Over the first two days of the festival, the series of events will be centered in the Tasik Madu and Titik Nol Lovina areas. A number of traditional art performances, such as the Barong dance, and sunset DJ entertainment will be featured at these locations.
On the 27th and 28th July, the second two days of the festival, event programming will shift to Binaria Beach.
Visitors can enjoy a line-up of folk entertainment performances, including Bondres, as well as exhibitions of MSMEs and a creative market from local artisans. A total of 35 local culinary vendors and tents will be serving food throughout the four days, and 40 food and craft businesses are confirmed to participate in the festival.
The festival program touches on all aspects of North Bali life, and there are plenty of activities to get involved in for free.
Community Harmony & Heritage Preservation
Activities include cross-country running, a cattle race, mini sailboats, sunset yoga, a book review workshop about Panji Tista, a Barong Lawang sunset performance, and a mass fishermen’s dance featuring approximately 150 dancers.
It’s going to be a big event; the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Office is targeting 25,000 visitors during the festival, or an average of 5,000 visitors per day.
This target is an increase from last year’s 20,000 visitors. With this rapid growth, it’s fair to say that LovFest is only just getting started; this may be the last chance to experience the event at this size and scale.
Prasaja told reporters, “We will measure visitor data using barcodes provided throughout the festival area. In addition to counting visitor numbers, we can also get direct feedback from tourists to improve future implementation.”
This team is dreaming big for the future of this event; if you can’t be in Lovina this week, then mark your calendars for 2027.
