Bangli, Bali (National Archipelagic Wire) - The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia has named Penglipuran Tourism Village in Bangli Regency as an example of tourist village development in Indonesia.

Adyatama Tourism and Creative Economy Main Expert of the Ministry of Tourism, Hariyanto, during a specific working visit of Commission VII DPR RI in Penglipuran Village, Thursday, said that Penglipuran's success was considered to be able to combine economic growth with the preservation of culture and local wisdom.

"So imitate, not copy. What are the ideas for managing tourist villages, how to encourage economic growth without abandoning local wisdom, culture and community customs," he said.

Hariyanto explained that the government continues to encourage the development of tourist villages as a strategy to strengthen the national tourism sector in accordance with the mandate of Law Number 18 of 2025.

According to him, this regulation is an important milestone because for the first time the narrative regarding tourism villages is officially regulated in law as a form of state attention to the development of community-based tourism.

Hariyanto said that Penglipuran Tourism Village is one of the best examples after winning the Best Tourism Village award from UN Tourism in 2023.

This achievement strengthens Indonesia's position as one of the countries with the largest number of the world's best tourist villages in the Asian region.

He emphasized that Penglipuran's success is not only measured by international awards, but also by village governance which is able to maintain a balance between economic growth, cultural preservation, customs and local wisdom.

For this reason, the Ministry of Tourism routinely involves the management of the Penglipuran Tourism Village as a resource person in various tourism village development activities in a number of regions in Indonesia.

According to Hariyanto, this step aims to ensure that other regions can emulate the Penglipuran concept and governance without having to copy it completely, but rather adapt it to the potential and characteristics of each region.
