Editorial travel photography documenting authentic landscapes across Bali.

While luxury travel trends on social media might make it look like these properties have an unattainable price tag for most travelers, in fact, many of these multi-award-winning properties are surprisingly affordable.

Property Architecture & Wellness Sanctuary Concept

Take Camaya Bali, for example; this bamboo paradise offers guests year-round eco-escapes in East Bali. Camaya Bali is home to seven unique bamboo villas and cottages, surrounded by working rice paddies, perfect for tourists looking for a real retreat and a sense of earth-inspired luxury.

Room rates at Camaya Bali often shock tourists, for the right reasons. These stunning private villas, which can sleep 2-4 guests, can be booked for as little as IDR 3,550,000 per night, which is around USD 200 and therefore USD 50 per person per night. Did we mention that breakfast is included?!

The semi-open houses allow the fresh air to flow through and to live in harmony with Bali’s nature, including the likes of tokay geckos, and sometimes fireflies too. Top picks for villas at Camaya Bali include Butterfly and Pyramid.

Sticking in Karangasem Regency in East Bali, exploring bamboo villas would be incomplete without highlighting Hideout Bali. As the team says, ‘we take relaxation seriously,’ and indeed they do.

This place is so relaxing and rejuvenating, you might just melt! Everyone loves Hideout Bali, and with good reason, offering top-notch hospitality, stunning views of East Bali, and, of course, incredible private villas.

Signature Treatments & Guest Experience

As Hideout Bali explains, “Our hideouts serve as an idyllic haven for an array of individuals. These bamboo homes offer an unparalleled Bali experience for seasoned wanderers, nature aficionados, spiritually inclined individuals, and fans of trekking. Furthermore, they provide a distinctive setting for backpackers, artists, musicians, and enthusiasts of eco-friendly living.”

“Our eco-lodge, hidden within the lush Balinese jungle, is the epitome of a unique and memorable jungle retreat.” Here at Regional Travel Monitors, we always love the look of the Hay House for a cosy, intimate retreat with prices starting at USD 98 per night.

Of course, did you think we would fail to mention Firefly Eco-Lodge in our rundown of iconic bamboo villas in Bali? We wouldn’t dare!

For those not in the know, Firefly Eco-Lodge was featured on Netflix’s The World’s Most Amazing Vacation Rentals and was quickly added to the bucket lists of all incoming tourists to Bali. And rightly so.

Naturally, this incredible getaway gets booked up long in advance, though lucky holidaymakers can snap up a last-minute deal. It’s not uncommon to find a night or two available in the iconic Birdsnest Tree House for as little as USD 20, especially on weekdays in the low season.

Setting, Surrounding Enclave & Access

Bookings at Firefly Eco-Lodge are completed through Airbnb. Last year, you may have heard rumours that Bali was trying to ban Airbnb from operating in the province. This move was blocked by the Central Government, which has confirmed that Airbnb is a strategic partner for the Ministry of Tourism, so you can book with confidence.

With all of these stays averaging less than USD 50 per person per night, we thought we’d share one more iconic bamboo villa resort for you. This one, however, as the original artisanal bamboo hotel, comes with a more premium price tag.

Bambu Indah is Bali’s most luxurious bamboo architecture hotel resort and is located in Sayan, just outside of Ubud. Home to 24 truly breathtaking freestanding houses, nests, and tents, this resort consistently wins international acclaim and for good reason.

As Bambu Indah explains, “We want to bring you as close to the natural world as possible, so most of our accommodations have open-air bathrooms, and only a handful have walls. But they’re all equipped with creature comforts: French linens and Tibetan rugs, cotton waffle towels and robes, air-conditioned beds draped in mosquito netting, rain showers and Japanese toilets.”

With stays starting at IDR 4,989,600 per night, USD 290, for a once-in-a-lifetime kind of stay, it’s well worth pushing the splurge if you’re traveling to Bali on a budget.

Rates, Reservations & What It Adds to Bali

This hospitality debut enriches Bali's premium leisure landscape, combining high-grade wellness science with the island's celebrated hospitality traditions. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for specialized spa programs and signature villa stays.
