Dispar: Foreign tourists who want to go to Bali don't need to worry about the Zika virus

Denpasar, Bali (National Archipelagic Wire) - The Bali Tourism Department (Dispar) asked foreign tourists (tourists) not to be afraid or worry too much about traveling to the Island of the Gods following a health warning from the United States authorities regarding the Zika virus.

"I hope that tourists are not afraid to come to Bali, because Bali is safe and comfortable for vacationing," said Head of the Bali Tourism Department, I Wayan Sumarajaya, when confirmed in Denpasar, Bali, Sunday.

Sumarajaya emphasized that his party had coordinated intensively with related agencies, especially the Bali Provincial Health Service.

Based on official explanations from health authorities, to date no cases of Zika virus infection have been found or recorded in all areas of Bali.

However, the Head of the Bali Tourism Department continues to remind tourists and tourism industry players to continue to implement preventive measures independently, considering the characteristics of Bali as a tropical climate area.

Being alert to diseases transmitted through mosquito vectors is essential, similar to preventing dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

"Because we are in a tropical country, it is important to prevent it, just like dengue fever, so tourists remain alert to avoid mosquito bites," he said.

He also appealed to all stakeholders and tourism service business actors in Bali to consistently provide the best service by prioritizing health standards, cleanliness and comfort for travelers while on holiday.

Confirmed separately, the Head of the Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Division of the Bali Provincial Health Service, I Gusti Ayu Raka Susanti, confirmed that to date there have been no findings of Zika cases in Bali.

"In Bali itself there have been no reports of Zika cases, but because it is a tropical country, tourists are advised to be careful when traveling, that is a natural thing," said Raka.
