The performance of the business world in Bali strengthened due to school holidays

Denpasar (National Archipelagic Wire) - The Bali Province Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) revealed that the performance of the main business sector, including tourism and construction, grew stronger as of June 2026 due to school holidays being pushed after experiencing a contraction in March 2026.

"The school holiday season is one of the key drivers because it is accompanied by an increase in tourists," said Head of BI Bali Representative Achris Sarwani in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday.

He explained that these results were obtained based on a survey of business activities in the second quarter of 2026 (April-June) which could be seen from the weighted net balance (WBT) value of 49.32 percent, up from 16.05 in the previous three months.

According to him, the increase in performance in the business field of providing accommodation and food and drink or the tourism sector from minus 8.32 percent in the first quarter of 2026 to 14.62 percent.

Likewise, the construction business field will go from minus 2.22 percent to 6.66 percent as of June 2026.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), there was an increase in foreign tourist visits by 18.41 percent from 1.46 million to 1.73 million people.

Meanwhile, the construction sector increased due to the number of projects in Bali in the second quarter of 2026, which was driven by the increase in commercial building projects related to the tourism sector such as hotels, villas and tourist facilities.

On the other hand, the performance of the financial services sector is also improving due to economic activity which is influenced by the peak school holiday season and also increasing credit distribution, strong banking performance, increasing digital financial transactions, and increasing need for financial services due to increasingly high economic activity.

Meanwhile, the central bank representative also predicted through a survey that business activity in July-September 2026 would also increase.

Increased performance is predicted to occur in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries business fields because it is driven by increased production/harvest volumes for the commodities of rice, chicken meat and eggs, and coconut.
