Wae Lolos Tourist Village in NTT Becomes Filming Location for French Reality Show

Pekín Express participants come from various countries. They had arrived at Wae Lolos. "Hundreds of participants from various parts of the world set foot in Wae Lolos Village, ready to conquer various challenges that test their adrenaline," said Chairman of Pokdarwis Cunca Plias, Robert Perkasa, Sunday (6/9/2026).
Robert said Pekín Express Season 23 is a very popular French television show, taking participants across various countries.
Robert said the tourist village, nicknamed the Thousand Waterfalls destination, offered interesting challenges for participants. They have to complete various tasks inspired by the culture and activities of the local community and explore the natural beauty of Wae Lolos.
"One of the most anticipated challenges is a cycling race around Kampung Langgo. Participants will traverse regulated paths, hillsides and residential villages. This challenge not only tests physical strength, but also navigation skills and teamwork," explained Robert.
In this 23rd season, the adventure route stretches from Koka Beach, Flores to ending in Manila, Philippines. Filming locations in Indonesia are the Flores region (Koka Beach, Kelimutu, Bajawa, Wae Lolos); Sumbawa (Bima, Labuan Jambu, Kuang); Lombok (Labuhan Lombok, Tanjung Luar, Mataram), and Bali (Padangbai, Lovina, and Tanah Lot).
The filming process started on August 28 at Koka Beach, Maumere and ended in Manila on October 8.
A total of 10 selected pairs will compete fiercely by relying on their ability to adapt and interact with local residents to continue to advance to the next round. Close interaction with local residents is one of the main attractions of Pekín Express.
"Participants must be able to overcome language barriers and show openness to new cultures. This gives rise to a variety of inspiring and emotional stories, providing unique insight into the daily lives of people in the countries they travel through," explained Robert.
During filming activities, viewers are not permitted to take videos. This is done to maintain confidentiality and surprises that will be presented in the television program. Viewers can still watch the excitement of Pekín Express Season 23 via the M6 television channel in spring 2027.
