BPS notes that foreign tourist visits to Bali have decreased by 2.42 percent
The Bali Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded visits by foreign tourists (tourists) to the Island of the Gods during the January-June 2026 period reaching 3,203,156 people. This figure decreased by 2.42 percent cumulatively compared to the same period in 2025.

Judging from tourist passports, Australia is still the largest contributor of foreign tourists with 802,837 visits or an increase of 6.10 percent. The second position is occupied by tourists from China with 285,120 visits or an increase of 7.77 percent.
Meanwhile, tourist visits from India fell 7.48 percent with 278,056 visits. Likewise, tourists from England recorded 138,164 visits, a decrease of 11.30 percent.
Next, tourists from the United States reached 134,519 visits, down 1.84 percent. Of the five countries contributing the largest foreign tourists, British tourist arrivals experienced the deepest decline.
Head of Tourism Marketing, Bali Province Tourism Office (Dispar), Ida Ayu Indah Yustikarini, said that her party is now more focused on working on markets in countries that do not pass through the Middle East or short-haul. Short-haul refers to trips or flights with relatively short distances and travel times.
"For example, Australia, China, Thailand and countries in the Asia Pacific. From Perth to Bali around four hours, from China around seven hours, while Thailand around five hours," said Indah, Monday (3/8/2026).
Apart from that, Dispar Bali is also starting to target the South Korean and Japanese markets. This was done as an effort to reduce dependence on European and US markets.
On the other hand, Indah also encouraged tourism industry players to promote destinations outside southern Bali. The goal is to make Bali's economy more equitable.
"We certainly urge travel agent entrepreneurs to also promote or offer hidden gems in other districts, such as those in Buleleng, Karangasem, Jembrana, Bangli, so that tourists don't just end up in southern Bali," he added.
