Denpasar (National Archipelagic Wire) - Deputy Governor of Bali I Nyoman Giri Prasta advised the North Sulawesi Provincial Government to optimize village resources in tourism development.

"If you want to improve the quality of tourism, you should develop tourist villages, for example Kutuh Village in Badung Regency which manages Pandawa Beach. Previously, this village was a poor village but has now become one of the most advanced villages because it is able to manage tourism resources well," he said in a statement from the Bali Provincial Government in Denpasar, Bali, Thursday.

Deputy Governor Giri conveyed this during a visit by the Deputy Governor of North Sulawesi, Johannes Victor Mailangkay, who discussed the potential for tourism cooperation.

He suggested optimizing tourist villages as a strength that needs to continue to be strengthened, because tourists nowadays tend to look for new, authentic experiences, so that tourist villages can become centers of activity with the support of cultural, natural attractions and adequate supporting facilities.

Like Kutuh Village, their success cannot be separated from the solid coordination of all components of society in managing the village's potential professionally.

"The key is good coordination between the four banjars in Kutuh Village, with togetherness, tourism potential can be managed professionally so that the economic benefits are truly felt by the village community," said the former Badung Regent.

Deputy Governor Giri hopes that this experience can become a reference for North Sulawesi in developing tourist areas, including Likupang, through strengthening tourist villages based on local potential and active community participation.

In addition, the current direction of tourism development must shift from simply pursuing the number of tourist visits towards improving the quality of tourist destinations and experiences.

According to him, regional planning is an important factor in building competitive destinations, through the division of core zones, buffer zones that support tourism activities, as well as area managers who have clear authority and responsibility.

Giri Prasta also touched on changes to national regulations through Law Number 18 of 2025 which provides wider space for the development of the tourism sector, including the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, as an important indicator in increasing the competitiveness of tourist destinations.
