Bali Museum will be closed until November due to renovation

The Bali Museum will be closed starting Monday (10/8/2026) for tourists. The museum, which is located on Jalan Mayor Wisnu, Denpasar, will be renovated until the end of November.

Head of the Bali Museum UPTD, Ida Ayu Made Sutariani, explained that three buildings were being renovated, namely the Buleleng, Tabanan and Karangasem buildings. "We will replace the roof of the building with new fiberglass," he told regional observers, Tuesday (4/8/2026).

According to Dayu, Sutarini's nickname, during the renovation, tourists cannot relax at the Bali Museum. However, administration, libraries and research services remain open.

Ceremonial Observance & Village Protocols

Dayu explained that the renovation of the Bali Museum must not change the materials or design of the building. This is because the museum, which was initiated by the Assistant Resident of South Bali, W. F. J. Koon, is an object suspected of being cultural heritage. "So the building material and size must be the same," he said.

The Bali Museum, Dayu added, has budgeted IDR 5 billion for the renovation. In addition, the Bali Museum will present a new theme when it reopens to tourists.
