The Bali DPRD asks the Traditional Village Council to deal with the rise in crime

Denpasar (National Archipelagic Wire) - The Bali DPRD has highlighted the recent rise in crime cases, so they have asked the Bali Traditional Village Council (MDA) and officials in the districts/cities to take a role in dealing with this.

"We discussed the issue of order, security and crime to maintain order and security, especially since Bali is a tourist area so security factors are absolute, one of the steps taken is the importance of MDA," said Chairman of Commission I DPRD Bali Province I Nyoman Budiutama. in Denpasar, Monday,

He reminded that criminal cases occur at the smallest regional level, while in villages there are traditional villages that have authority.

"MDA is important, because MDA also has the right to make perarem (rules), pararem related to the running of Sipandu Beradat (Integrated Service System Based on Traditional Villages) like the kasukertan earlier," he said.

Ceremonial Observance & Village Protocols

Because of the importance of traditional villages taking the role of suppressing crime, the Bali DPRD asked the MDA as its parent to be more active, instead of being absent from similar meetings.

"MDA is a note for the institution. Commission I has invited MDA five times regarding maintaining order and security, but they have not been able to attend and are always represented. This is a note and recommendations will be made regarding future steps," said Budiutama.

With the power of traditional villages, according to him, the council believes that customary law can protect Bali from crime, not only regulating traditional communities but also immigrants living in an area.

Commission I of the Bali DPRD encouraged the MDA to instruct traditional villages to tighten regional supervision, one of which is through regulations for structuring and collecting data on migrant residents (duktang).

Through this coordination meeting, the Bali DPRD hopes that all stakeholders will no longer work separately. The main hope of this meeting is the creation of real, integrated collaboration from the provincial government level down to the lowest structures at the banjar and traditional village levels.

"The output is to jointly protect Bali and minimize crime through collaboration with stakeholders, from local government to the traditional village level," he said.
