Komodo National Park Flooded with 200 Thousand Tourists in Six Months, Worst in January

Tourist visits to Komodo National Park (TN), Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), reached 200,985 people during January-June 2026. Foreign tourists (tourists) still dominate visits to tourist destinations that are the habitat of the Komodo dragon.

"171,444 foreign tourists and 29,541 domestic tourists," said Head of the Komodo National Park Office (BTNK), Hendrikus Rani Siga, Tuesday (14/7/2026).

Tourist visits to Komodo National Park in the first half of this year increased from the same period last year. In January-June 2025, tourist visits to Komodo National Park will be 171,391 people.

The most visits in the first half of this year occurred in June, reaching almost 50 thousand tourists. The lowest visits were in January, only more than 3,000 tourists.

Affected Corridors & Port/Flight Status

The low number of visits in January was influenced by the temporary closure of the Komodo National Park area due to the sinking incident of the pinisi ship Putri Sakinah which killed a coach for the Valencia FC women's soccer team.

In February, visits jumped to more than 20 thousand people. Visits continued to increase sharply through June
