Northern Baliem Valley: Jiwika Village Mummy & Sacred Salt Springs
Trek into the northern Baliem Valley to Jiwika village. Meet Dani clan elders and view the revered, 300-year-old black smoked ancestor mummy of warrior chieftain Wimontok Mabel preserved inside a sacred Honai.
Ascend mountain trails through pine forests to the sacred mountain brine springs. Observe Dani women soaking porous banana tree stems into the salty mineral waters to extract natural cooking salt.
Walk among thatched round Honai compounds and sweet potato fields before returning to Wamena for a dinner of roasted vegetables and fresh highland fruits.

Traditional Dani Cultural Celebration, Mock War Dance & Pig Feast
Assemble in a traditional tribal clearing as Dani warriors adorned with bird-of-paradise headpieces, boar tusks, and body paint perform an ancient mock battle (war dance) with spears and longbows.
Participate in the sacred Bakar Batu culinary feast. River rocks heated red-hot on wood bonfires are placed into an earthen pit, layered with sweet potato tubers, highland greens, and pork to slow-cook beneath banana leaves.
