Sheltered on the peaceful periphery of Pererenan’s emerald rice fields, The Sound & Usadha Sanctuary honors the sacred heritage of Bali’s indigenous herbal medicine. Built using reclaimed ironwood, alang-alang thatched roofs, and volcanic river stone, the sanctuary feels like a spiritual hermitage passed down through generations. Water murmurs through stone subak rills into reflective lotus ponds, accompanied by the gentle rustle of swaying palm fronds. The atmosphere is deeply grounding, inviting guests to slow their pace and reconnect with the subtle energetic rhythms of the island.

Healing here follows the revered wisdom of the ancient lontar palm-leaf manuscripts known as Usadha. The signature ceremony begins with intuitive palm and meridian bodywork by a fifth-generation Balinese healer, using warm oils hand-infused with nutmeg, clove, and turmeric root. A therapeutic warm boreh paste—crushed fresh daily in granite mortars from native spices—is smoothed over the limbs, releasing deep volcanic warmth to relieve joint stiffness and sluggish circulation. While enveloped in warm linen wraps, pure-toned Tibetan singing bowls and hand-beaten Balinese gongs are rung over the body, filling the wooden pavilion with resonant acoustic frequencies that dissolve lingering mental clutter. The journey concludes with an outdoor soak in a copper bathtub strewn with fresh tuberose and frangipani petals, accompanied by warm, honey-sweetened turmeric jamu.
