Denpasar (National Archipelagic Wire) - Bali Governor Wayan Koster asked that any development in the Batur, Kintamani, Bangli areas be coordinated with elders or traditional leaders.
"Every program planned in the area is first coordinated with the Batur traditional elders, so that every development and activity can run in line with the values, beliefs and traditional orders that have been passed down from generation to generation," he said in a statement in Denpasar, Thursday.
This was conveyed by Koster at the Melaspas Purwa Mandala ceremony at Pura Ulun Danu Batur and Batur Traditional Village during the 100th Anniversary of Rarud Batur, where he reminded that Batur is one of the sources of Balinese civilization.
This message is mainly directed to the Head of the Bali Province BKSDA to build synergy with the Bangli Regency Government and the Batur traditional leaders as regional authorities who still strongly adhere to customs and traditions.
This synergy is considered important to jointly protect, develop, glorify and harmonize the Batur area.
"Batur not only has an enchanting natural panorama, but also holds collective memories about the journey of the Balinese people. Protecting Batur is not just protecting a place, but maintaining the chain of civilization so that it remains alive and can be passed on to the next generation," said the governor.
According to him, carrying out the temple melaspas ceremony itself is a momentum to recall the historical traces of the Batur Traditional Village after the devastating 1926 eruption which forced all residents to flee (rarud) to the current Batur Village.
This confirms the commitment to protect the area which is believed to be one of the sources of civilization and sacredness in Bali, more than just an area with the natural beauty of Mount Batur and Lake Batur, Batur has a special position in Balinese spiritual culture.
Connecting with caution in development, understanding history is important so that every policy made is not only oriented towards regional use, but is truly able to protect, protect, glorify and care for the ancestral heritage in Batur.
The Bali Provincial Government also invites the public to see Batur not only as a holy place, but as a source of holiness because it is able to radiate the surrounding area, as well as being a source of life.
