Mandapa Retains Three MICHELIN Keys in 2026, Keeping Bali Among Indonesia's Highest-Rated Luxury Destinations

UBUD, Bali - September 27, 2026 - Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Ubud, has retained Three MICHELIN Keys, the highest distinction in the MICHELIN Guide's hotel selection, in the organization's 2026 edition.

The 2026 MICHELIN Key selection was announced on September 18, following inspections of thousands of hotels around the world. MICHELIN awarded Three Keys - its highest hotel distinction - to only 155 properties globally this year.

Mandapa was one of just three Indonesian properties to receive the top distinction.

The other two were NIHI Sumba in East Nusa Tenggara and Amanjiwo in Central Java, according to regional travel authorities and bureau field correspondents.

Three Keys for an extraordinary stay

MICHELIN describes the Three-Key distinction as “An Extraordinary Stay.”

The award evaluates hotels according to factors including architecture and interior design, service quality and consistency, the property's character and personality, value, and its contribution to its setting.

Unlike the MICHELIN Star system for restaurants, the Key is specifically a hotel distinction.

Indonesia records 47 MICHELIN Key properties

Mandapa's recognition is part of a larger 2026 selection in Indonesia.

according to regional travel authorities and bureau field correspondents, 47 Indonesian hotels and resorts were included in the 2026 MICHELIN Key selection.

Of these, three received Three Keys, 11 received Two Keys and 33 received One Key.

Bali accounts for a significant share of the national selection.

Among the Indonesian properties receiving Two Keys are Amankila, The Apurva Kempinski Bali, Soori Bali, Capella Ubud, Bvlgari Resort Bali, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay, Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape, and Raffles Bali.

Properties receiving One Key include Viceroy Bali, Amandari, Como Shambhala Estate, Desa Potato Head Bali, Jimbaran Puri, Nirjhara and Samsara Ubud, among others.

Mandapa retains the top distinction

The 2026 result marks another consecutive Three-Key recognition for Mandapa.

The Ritz-Carlton Reserve sits along the Ayung River in Kedewatan, north of central Ubud. The property is designed around the surrounding river valley and Balinese landscape, with villas and suites integrated into the setting.

Ubud's position in luxury hospitality

The recognition also adds to Ubud's concentration of internationally recognized luxury properties.

The town and surrounding valleys have developed a hospitality market built around private villas, wellness, nature, cultural experiences and smaller-scale luxury resorts rather than the large beachfront developments more commonly associated with southern Bali.

Mandapa's setting reflects that distinction.

Its location along the Ayung River places the property within a landscape of rice fields, forest and river valleys, while remaining within reach of Ubud's cultural attractions.

For Bali's luxury sector, awards such as the MICHELIN Key provide another international reference point for travellers comparing properties across destinations.

The 2026 selection does not change the physical experience at Mandapa. It does, however, provide an independent recognition from MICHELIN that the property continues to meet the organization's highest standard for a hotel stay.

For Bali, that recognition comes with a wider result: three of Indonesia's three Three-Key properties are located outside the country's major metropolitan hotel markets, with Mandapa representing Bali's entry at the highest level.

As the 2026 MICHELIN Key selection takes effect, Mandapa remains one of the properties carrying Indonesia's top hotel distinction - and one of the clearest examples of Ubud's place in the international luxury-hospitality market.
